Samsung is partnering with Voltalis, a European company specialising in Demand Side Response technology for residential and commercial buildings, to capitalise on the flexibility potential of Samsung appliances to help power grid balancing and reduce energy costs for consumers.
Grid flexibility is a key facilitator of the energy transition since it enables the deployment of additional renewable energy sources, ensures power supply and contributes to the decarbonisation of electrical networks, Samsung said in a statement.
By leveraging smart appliances equipped with Samsung's SmartThings AI Energy mode, the companies aim to create a vast network of flexible resources that can respond to grid demands in real-time.
The partnership will be developed throughout 2024, starting in France before expanding to other countries globally.
