Despite possessing significant hydropower potential, Africa remains plagued by inadequate energy access. Hydropower currently accounts for 40% of sub-Saharan Africa’s electricity generation. Installed capacity was 42 GW in 2023 yet harnessing this vast resource remains challenging.
