ABB and Compu-Power have formed a partnership to enhance customers’ backup power needs with integrated uninterrupted power supply (UPS) solutions expanding market reach beyond South Africa into neighbouring African countries.
The partnership was showcased in a joint exhibition at the X-Change End User conference in KwaZulu-Natal last month.
The UPS range includes 13 product families from voltage conditioners to static frequency converters and medium-voltage UPS systems for high-power applications up to 25 MW. It leverages digitisation options such as SNMP cards and IoT chips.
Compu-Power aims to expand its market reach beyond South Africa and will extend support for the ABB UPS range into Namibia, Mozambique, Tanzania and Kenya.
“We are committed to exploring opportunities in the sectors we operate in such as mining, data centres, petrochemicals and public-sector entities, like disaster management centres, while giving priority to ABB solutions,” says Donald Mokone, Managing Director of Compu-Power.
Ivor Becks, UPS and Power Quality Sales Specialist of ABB Southern Africa, added that Compu-Power’s extended reach into Africa is synergistic for ABB. “ABB has a long history in the UPS industry and remains committed to internal research and development, manufacturing and innovation.”
