Vally Padayachee has written a 12-page report announcing a new and updated code of practice which is intended to virtually avoid a national electricity blackout from occurring in South Africa.
The NRS Association of SA is pleased to announce that it has just approved in June 2023 for the adoption and implementation of a comprehensive NRS Code of Practice (“CoP”) that inter alia further mitigates the propensity of a national blackout and total grid collapse even at advanced stages of load shedding stages beyond Stage eight.
The country is currently in the midst of a national electricity crisis and winter which historically from experience the coldest period is generally expected to be during the third week of July and the first week of August when the electricity demand nationally is generally at its highest.
The NRS Association pulled out all stops and fast-tracked or accelerated with the cooperation and collaboration of a wide range and many and different stakeholders and interest groups to compile, finalise, approve, and release the said NRS Code of Practice in the last many months of 2022 and 2023.
