South African businesses struggling with energy security have a new option, as global solar leader Neosun Energy announced its expansion into the country.
The company specializes in commercial power stations and storage solutions. Their recent entry, announced in a statement from Neosun last week, specifically targets small and medium enterprises (SMEs) across the sectors of manufacturing, warehousing, pharmaceuticals, retail, mining and industry.
“Thousands of enterprises in Africa are unable to fulfil business operations and are bearing financial losses due to the limited access to the grid,” said Ilya Likhov, Neosun CEO. In response to this, Neosun offers commercial, scalable PV solutions ranging from 200kW to 10MW.
The company has a global presence, having been established in 16 other regions, and is known for its global outreach in remote areas. It focuses on energy storage and solar solutions, with the aim of making an impact by providing power to SMEs in a country grappling with grid instability.
“The surge in renewable energy investment to $495 billion in 2022, juxtaposed against the $371 billion in oil and gas, reflects a global shift towards sustainable energy solutions,” said Likhov, “Neosun’s venture into South Africa is a step towards mitigating business losses incurred due to electricity scarcity, and propelling the region towards a sustainable energy future”
