Microcare has launched its locally manufactured modular 100 kW mini grid for the South African market.
Components are sourced from local suppliers and assembled in Microcare’s expanding facilities to ensure quality control and compliance with local standards. Using local content enhances the durability of the product and positions the Eastern Cape and South Africa as a hub for sustainable energy innovation, according to Microcare.
The 100 kW mini grid is designed for resilience against voltage fluctuations, weather extremes and operational stresses. Smart technology optimises energy distribution, adapting to demand changes and integrating solar power to boost efficiency and reduce downtime.
Its capacity can be adjusted and it can incorporate increased storage solutions to optimise performance and maximise energy access. It can also be containerised for easy installation. “This flexibility empowers local stakeholders, such as municipalities and industrial complexes, to shape their energy landscapes according to their unique priorities and constraints,” Microcare states.
Smart technologies embedded within the system to optimise energy distribution respond to fluctuating demands.
