Infrastructure South Africa (ISA) has announced the signing of a memorandum of cooperation (MoC) with Eskom aimed at bridging the infrastructure investment gap and accelerating progress towards South Africa’s National Development Plan (NDP) 2030 targets.
“This represents a meaningful step towards closing the infrastructure investment gap and meeting the ambitious targets of the NDP 2030,” the ISA said.
Under the terms of the MoC, ISA and Eskom will collaborate in several key areas:
- Business case development: ISA will assist Eskom in developing comprehensive business cases for strategic projects, ensuring alignment with national infrastructure priorities and the NDP’s objectives. This preparation phase will be crucial in successfully positioning projects and attracting necessary investments.
- Strategic project identification: Eskom will provide ISA with a selection of high economic impact projects from its development pipeline, subject to confidentiality agreements. These projects are prioritised to go to market and expected to drive substantial economic benefits.
- Knowledge and innovation exchange: The partnership will also focus on knowledge sharing with both parties committed to exchanging insights, best practices and innovations.
"The sharing of thought leadership, knowledge and innovations between Eskom and ISA is key to supporting the interests of our stakeholders and addressing the nation’s power needs sustainably. We are confident this partnership will not only enhance South Africa’s power supply but also catalyse sustainable energy projects that align with our national goals,” the ISA said.
