How to fill the inertia gap in modern power systems

The integration of renewable-energy systems into the power grid has led to changes in the fundamental aspects of the South African network. One of the most significant impacts is the decrease in system inertia, which is the property that helps resist changes in the network, especially frequency fluctuations.
