Vehicle manufacturers can start taking advantage of tax incentives from early 2026, which could see rapid enhancements in electric vehicle (EV) production in South Africa.
Trade and Industry Minister Ebrahim Patel addressed the press earlier this week at the Black Industrialists and Exporters Conference in Pretoria. A 150% tax deduction on investment in local EV and hydrogen-powered vehicle production was proposed last month.
