The Africa Energy Indaba will host its third annual Electric Vehicle (EV) Forum during its flagship event at the Cape Town International Convention Centre from March 4-6.

The forum will examine the challenges and opportunities shaping Africa’s electric vehicle landscape as the continent seeks to embrace sustainable mobility. This year’s forum will bring together government representatives, industry leaders and investors to discuss strategies for driving EV adoption and the necessary infrastructure to support it.

This year’s forum comes amid significant policy shifts across Africa. In South Africa, a 150% tax incentive for EV-related infrastructure was recently signed into law to stimulate investment in sustainable technologies. Meanwhile, Zimbabwe has introduced incentives to bolster its vehicle manufacturing sector, including suspension of customs duties on semi-knocked down kits and reductions in EV import duties.

“As global focus shifts towards cleaner energy solutions, Africa stands at a pivotal moment in its journey towards sustainable mobility. With urbanisation rates soaring, a youthful population and growing demand for transportation solutions, the continent presents unparalleled potential for EV adoption,” the event organisers say.
