Energ-G-Africa (EGA) has relocated to a larger manufacturing facility in Paarl, Western Cape, with a solar edge assembly line capable of producing 550 W and 275 W solar panels in addition to its existing range of 20 W, 50 W and 360 W panels.
All EGA panels are manufactured in South Africa under the internationally recognised TÜV NORD certification and according to ISO and IEC standards.
The new 550 W and 275 W panels will be available for purchase from October for the greater African market.
“Our investment in state-of-the-art German technology allows us to produce highly advanced and reliable solar panels specifically designed for the African environment. We are equally dedicated to training, upskilling and employing women and young people from local communities in our solar assembly and manufacturing processes. By integrating automation in key areas, we ensure superior quality control and cost efficiency,” says Andre Moolman, CEO of EGA.
Dave Lello, Chief Business Development Officer at EGA, adds: “Our ability to adapt designs specifically for the African market is exemplified by the 275 W panels. These panels offer flexibility while maintaining the voltage output of larger panels, allowing for integration with most standard industry inverters.”
The 275 W panels are designed for higher capacity in a smaller footprint. “For instance, on an irregularly shaped roof, you can install more panels, thereby generating more power. One 275 W panel can replace a 2x150 W configuration, providing better performance at a lower cost and requiring less space. Additionally, two 275 W panels outperform three 150 W panels, reducing the total number of panels needed,” Lello says.
The 550 W and 275 W panels can be combined within the same string to optimise performance in various configurations, including east-west orientations, and maximise energy utilisation throughout the day.
