Cape Town expands jobs portal to recruit artisans for munic roles

The City of Cape Town has expanded its Jobs Connect platform to recruit skilled artisans for municipal roles.

“Research indicates that many job seekers face significant financial hurdles during their job search process – from transport costs to printing CVs. The data-free Jobs Connect programme greatly reduces many of these obstacles by providing a free platform that directly links job seekers with employers,” says the city’s Mayoral Committee Member for Economic Growth James Vos.

The city is recruiting professionals in various trades. Electrical services, including auto-electrical work, are a key focus area with demand for skilled workers to maintain and develop municipal infrastructure. Other critical trades include mechanical engineering, construction, plumbing, welding, carpentry and bricklaying.

“This platform allows artisans to secure meaningful employment in public service while supporting infrastructure projects that benefit Cape Town communities,” says Theresa Uys, the city’s Mayoral Committee Member for Corporate Services.
