Anglo American has signed an agreement with Finnish Minerals Group to work together on Finland’s battery strategy, which aims to make the country a leader in sustainable battery production by 2025.
Finnish Minerals Group is a state-owned enterprise with assets producing nickel, cobalt sulphates and a project in the pipeline to produce battery-grade lithium to begin production in 2025.
Finland is positioned as a “stable and secure source of many of the metals and minerals needed for the world to decarbonise,” Anglo American says. “With an increasing number of countries prioritising sustainable access to responsibly sourced critical raw materials, Finland is well positioned in terms of its natural resources and the country’s investment across the entire battery value chain, from mineral extraction to recycling.”
